India's coal imports moderated during 2–8 August 2026, with total arrivals falling to 3.56 million tonnes (MT) from 3.85 MT in the previous week — a decline of about 7.5%.
Steam coal imports eased to 2.33 MT, from 2.56 MT, while coking coal shipments dropped to 1.23 MT, from 1.29 MT. Indonesia remained the dominant steam-coal supplier at 1.31 MT, followed by South Africa at 0.37 MT and Mozambique at 0.22 MT.
