India's coal imports softened during 26 July–1 August 2026, with total arrivals declining to 3.85 million tonnes (MT) from 4.77 MT in the previous week.
The moderation was driven by lower procurement across both thermal and metallurgical coal segments. Steam coal imports fell to 2.56 MT from 2.76 MT, while coking coal imports declined more sharply to 1.29 MT, compared with 2.02 MT in the previous reporting period.
