With over 1.9 million tonnes (Mt), Indonesia was the largest
contributor to India's coal imports for the week. Indonesia is one of the
world's largest exporters of coal, known for its relatively low-cost
production.
Despite its geographic distance, the USA ranked second.
India's imports from the USA likely stem from the availability of high-quality
coal and favourable trade relations.
